2020 Summer Bucket List
/Honestly, I’m not sure how I feel about bucket lists. Are they like New Years Resolutions? We all know how resolutions go — you are all gun-ho on it for like two weeks and then peter out. However, I like to look at bucket lists as just some ideas on what to do when you’re standing in the kitchen thinking (or, freaking out because the kids are running wild in circles and it’s only 8 am), “what the heck should we do today?!?”
Now, there is one problem: I’m a completionist. The type of person who commits, for better or worse, to the “I AM GOING TO FINISH IT” motto. You give me a list, I’m going to check all those boxes. I have to be careful with these bucket lists. I already made a promise to myself that I will not freak out if not all the boxes are checked. Repeat. I will not freak out if I don’t check all the boxes. Good pep-talk.
Now to the summer bucket list. While summer officially started June 21st on the calendar, we all know summer officially starts the day after July 4th in the Pacific Northwest. The sun is out consistently and the rain stops. We actually have to turn on sprinklers to keep the grass green. So that’s why I waited on my list until this week. I also tried to make it “stay at home” and “socially distant” acceptable.
What’s on your summer bucket list? P.S. You can find cute, free printables with a quick search online.
2020 Summer Bucket list:
Pick Berries. Locally, you can go to Picha Farms for strawberries and raspberries.
Make Jam. You can use the berries you picked to make the jam. Bam! Try this strawberry jam recipe or this one for peaches.
Make ice cream or popsicles. I’ve got a lot of ideas pinned on my Pinterest board for popsicles and ice cream.
Play in the kiddie pool.
Go on a new hike. We tried Kobayashi Park over the holiday weekend and enjoyed the water part.
Go on a picnic. Cheese, crackers, grapes, lunch meat or salami are my go-to picnic items.
Family bike ride. Josh has to get a bike for this to happen. Otherwise, it’s me and the boys.
Outdoor art project. I might try this fly swatter art project.
Outdoor water game/activity. So I found this sponge target game or this ice sensory bin table idea.
Lemonade Stand with Friends (or just make lemonade)
Make S’mores. If all fire pit options fail, then use the oven for these s’mores treats instead.
Go on a bug hunt. Honestly, I’m gonna pressure or more already dead bugs to look at on the ground.
Visit the Zoo. The aquarium part is now open, too.
Make treats for neighbors/friends. Who doesn’t want cookies or Rice Krispy treats?
Eat dinner in the backyard. We can totally pull this one off.
Make (or buy) a summer-inspired play dough activity. Thanks, Play Makers & Co for the idea. (Guys, she’s a local mom and has the cutest little playdough kits for kids). There is also Little Fox Box with playdough kits locally as well.
