Well, gosh, how does one start? Starting with "welcome" would be nice, right? So, let me start there...
Welcome to Raising Tacoma. I'm Heather.
I'm a pretty curious person. I was one of those kids who loved to open my mom and grandma's purse and snoop around at what might be inside. So, let me save you the trouble of snooping, and share a bit about myself.
I was born and raised in North County San Diego in a town called Encinitas. It's a cool dude surf town, where I didn't surf. Heck, I rarely went to the beach. I think the Pacific Northwest suits me better.
Next, I traveled northward to attend Santa Clara University (SCU) in the Bay Area. I graduated from the Business school as a marketing major. It just so happens SCU is also where I met my husband, Josh (but the marriage thing was much later).
After college, I lived in the Bay Area for a few years where I picked up a career in online marketing, primarily focused on email marketing (psst, it was not spam). Fun fact: My first job was at Google.
Eventually, I found my way to Eugene, OR to spend the last year of Josh's law school program with him. After his graduation, we both loved the Pacific Northwest so much that decided to move to Seattle, WA.
At the beginning of 2016, my son, Caleb was born. I decided to stay home with Caleb and become Chief of Home Operations (CHO). We also said goodbye to six great years in Seattle, and bought our first home in Tacoma, WA.
After three sweet years of Tacoma living, Wesley was born and made us a family of four. It also made me a mom of two boys - wow-wee! They keep me busy as we run around and explore our beautiful city, Tacoma.
So, a blog, huh?
My blogging life started in 2009 when I lived in Eugene. I started a personal blog to share my experiences with my friends and family. Through my blog, I discovered I enjoy taking photos and sharing my adventures. If fact, I find myself thinking about how I'll say or share something on my blog all the time (oddly that's often in the shower or while falling asleep).
On my personal blog, I noticed I it was becoming overwhelming Caleb-centric. To my surprise, my mom friends were digging them. So here I am starting this blog, Raising Tacoma, to share where we go, what we do, foods we're eating, or just chit-chat about stuff. In essence, I hope to take a little bit of our awesome Tacoma community online to give you ideas and encouragement. I hope we can be friends!
Feel feel to drop me a note to say hi, share something cool, or setup a play date. I'm totally down for all that stuff.
