Halloween Week, Are you Ready?

Boo, Suprise, Oh My…it’s Halloween week! I don’t know about you, but my son is loving Halloween. He’s been talking about it since the beginning of September. He’s going to be Batman and his little brother will be his sidekick, Robin. Have you done all the Halloween things? If not, here are a few things you can still do before Thursday rolls around.

Halloween Fun Ahead!

Go to a Pumpkin Patch

There are so many pumpkin patches- mostly out in Puyallup. We’ve been to R&R Farms for Caleb’s preschool field trip and then Picha Farms as a family. Picha Farms has been our go-to pumpkin patch for the past three years. They have just the right amount of activities and yet isn’t huge or overly crowded. Also, there is Spooner’s Farm, which we’ve gone to in the past, but it can be a bit crowded.

Carve Your Pumpkin(s)

I downloaded a print I found online (click here for the site), taped it to the pumpkin, and used a pumpkin carving sets to do the dirty work. I think it turned out pretty well. Last year, I bought a special stencil book and did a spider design. The Batman symbol was by far the easier design. What are your awesome creations?

Decorate the House

Oh Target how I love thee. It’s sort of funny, but we made going to Target a Sunday afternoon outing and looked at all the decorations. We enjoyed hitting the “try me” buttons and seeing the boys reaction. We bought a few decorations and put them in the house. I’m sure the spooky eyeball doorbell will be a hit. But just putting a pumpkin by your door is winning.

You might also check out Cost Plus World Market or Hobby Lobby for some decorations!

Visit the YMCA Harvest Fest & YMCA Toddler Parade

I haven’t been to these events, but I mark it as “interested” on FaceBook every year. Maybe this year we’ll actually make it. Both are at the Morgan Family YMCA, by the way (although other locations have similar events). The Harvest Fest is on Tuesday 5-7pm. The Toddler Parade is on Halloween itself, so that’s Thursday 10-11:30am.

Go to Proctor Treats

I feel like everyone goes to Proctor Treats. They close down the streets in the Proctor District and all the stores and restaurants hand out candy. It’s like one long line from store to store. We generally just go for a little bit to see friends. It starts at 4pm, so we’ll go early and then return home for trick-or-treating after dinner. (There is also a similar event happening at Point Ruston).

Say Trick-or-Treat…of course

We got our costumes at Costco, they might be all out so you can try Target or those Halloween pop-up places around town. Or maybe just maybe Amazon if you order RIGHT NOW.

Post-Halloween Candy Buy Back

This is a new event for this year and it’s for all that Halloween candy that you really don’t need (or actually, don’t need your child eating and getting mega candy highs). So the Curious Bear will buy back your unopened 2019 Halloween candy for store credit! You can get $1.00 store credit per pound, up to a maximum of 10lbs. per child. Thank you, Curious Bear.

Pumpkin Lattes & Treats

Finish off your week with a treat to yourself, a pumpkin spice latte. Read my post to find out all about the pumpkin spice latte options in the area. Also, last year I got snack day at preschool on Halloween, so I made pumpkin muffins with a little frosting and M&Ms to make mummies and then oranges with little celery stems.
